I read an article the other day which stated that more men are jailed for shoplifting then women. The article also suggested that the offenders are older and steal higher value goods which have been ordered. However, why is it that more men are jailed then women, if the crime is the same shouldn't the punishment be the same; regardless of gender.http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2005/jul/14/highereducation.research
